I just wanted to say that I finally got back to Oregon after living in Las Vegas for nearly 4 years and I am truly astonished at all her glory!!! I led a tour last week and did some personal shooting and hit the Painted Hills, Mt Hood, Sparks Lake Area, Bend, The Columbia River Gorge, all up and down the coast including Cape Kiwanda, Cannon Beach and many other locations. I have been up here on short trips two other times, but this trip made me want to tell all you how utterly SPOILED you are in the scenic value of your state or area!!! There is never a bad time to be shooting down here! And for those who might be complaining about the rain... just go live in the Gorge! The more rain the better there for shooting.
Anyways, I just hope folks are not taking this precious land and its VERY great culture for granted. I currently live in hell, but plan to be back very soon and I'll be out shooting 365 I'm sure for at least a few years!

Haha, glad you enjoyed the trip Mark. Having only lived here for a few years, I still haven't gotten spoiled by it yet. Every time I drive out to the gorge I say to myself "I am so lucky to have been FORCED to move away from DC".
Now if work would just let me spend all my time outside life would be perfect...
I couldn't agree more Mark. Someone commented recently about Oregon having a clearcut problem and maybe compared to some other states that's a fair statement but hey, it is logging country after all. Like any place, you just gotta know where to go. I live in WA but grew up in Vernonia, OR and consider the entire PNW my home. Vacations away can be nice but I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Hi, Mark. So glad you had such a great trip to our region. The entire PNW is amazing. I am a life-long resident and have never wanted to live anywhere else. I enjoy trips, but there is absolutely NOTHING like coming home– in my case to Seattle. I still have so many places in the PNW on my "to-see" list and on my "want-to-see-it-again" list, that I need a couple more lifetimes in which to do it! Come again soon.
P.S. Do show us some of your shots from the trip!
Shhh ... everybody knows it's a dull dank wet drizzly unscenic place ... now everyone will be coming up to photograph our beautiful and varied scenery
I've been here for fifteen years myself and even though I probably shoot somewhere in the gorge, eastern OR/WA or throughout the region, I'm never lost for stunning subject matter. We're so fortunate to have such variety and beauty not just out in the wilderness but even within our city limits!
Hi Mark,
I've lived for 20 years in the Mojave Desert, I loved the open spaces, but the heat is killing me, 4 years ago I visited my daughter in Portland, Or and fell in love with the place, Love the Gorge, been going there 3 times a year, came back wanted to sell my house, had problems with that, still have problems with that, but guess what, I'm moving. Boxes everywhere. Just waiting on some papers to sign and I'm gone. I love the PNW and do't mind the rain at all. Don't know what the heck I'm going to do up there besides Photography, since there isn't much of a Video Post Production Industry up there, but I'll figure something out, maybe selling Belgian Fries on a street corner I will miss the Eastern Sierra though.

Sing it, brother! While my list of places to visit is infinite, I can't think of another place I'd like to call home.
YES! I think Eastern Oregon would be a great hub for an outdoors person. I think I'd like my last and final home to be there! Get out there folks Oregon is singing its spring song right now!
Belgian fries, wearing a tie-dye shirt, drinking a dark stout unshaven and driving a suburu outback!
