Sorry for the lack of forum visits recently--now that storm season is winding down should have more time. Had a rough time with storm photos this year--all i can say in my defense is that it's insanely difficult getting pics when you're driving after storms moving at 50 mph. Woke up early monday and headed for Nebraska--the first tornado-warned storm i went after promptly disintegrated when i caught up to it, only to transfer all its energy to a storm 20 miles or so to its north--and after driving through the 30 mph zones of Kearney (while the storm was moving north at 40 mph) i finally caught up to it at Pleasanton, NE, just in time for this tornado. I was on the poor contrast (west side) of it. One of these days im gonna get this shot right...
Heres one before i realized my lens was on MF
Not exactly proud of these pics, but i dont really chase storms for the pics--its the thrill of catching something so rare, like finding a pearl in an oyster. All the video grabs these days give a false impression of how difficult it is to catch an event like this.
PS: stopped at mount evans on the way back but the road was closed due to 1 foot of new snow...so i went hiking instead.
If this is an example of NOT getting the shot right, I think you should keep getting them wrong. That first one is AWESOME, Stan! Don't be so hard on yourself.
"Twisterific", indeed! This is an excellent shot, IMO.
Little taste of Focus Magic will fix the slight blur present (..you get 10 freebies. ).

Wow, Stan, it must be an incredible feeling to be that close to a tornado. I am fine never experiencing that feeling, but it is great to see these cool images!

Seriously that is amazing that you even try to get this close to a twister.
Good luck in that storm chasing.
