Last weekend I finally got to get out and shoot a little bit. I went up to Sprague lake, I should have known better than going up there on fathers day. Even if it was for sunrise. There was a group of people in BRIGHT red jackets who stood in front of me for most of the morning.
Either way, I ended up getting a shot or two I am ok with. Probably the highlight of my morning was following around a duck and her ducklings.

I have been fighting with the range of this image. I think there was a bit too much in shadow that I have been trying to pull out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It has been so long since I have shot landscapes I feel like my post processing skills have severely diminished.

Aaaaahhhhhhh! That is the cutest little duckling. Jim, I am definitely NOT the guy to offer advice on processing. However, I would begin by darkening that sky some. If you cropped the right side that partial bush would disappear along with the bridge on the far side. I am surprised at how green the trees are. Did the P.S. cut out some of the beatle kill trees?

shadows look fine in the lake shot, just the highlites too bright up top.
