This image is also posted in the Landscape gallery, so some of you may have already seen it.
As the sun rises behind Mt Hood, a perfect pyramid shaped shadow is cast upon the surrounding landscape. I climbed Hood last Friday/Saturday with a few friends and we made it to the summit just after sunrise. This is one of my favorite images from the climb.
Photography was not my primary goal on this trip (making it to the top and back down safely was my goal) but I was pleasantly surprised by the good light on the summit. Hauling dSLR gear up the mountain didn't make climbing any easier, but I was glad I brought everything along.
All C&C are appreciated.

Now! That's the most unique shot of a mountain I've ever seen. The triangle is so perfect. Kudos to the grandeur of Mt. Hood and to you for climbing her successfully. Gorgeous.
I commented in Landscape, but did have a question. The shadow is too cool, but the foreground straightforward. Knowing how methodical you are in your photography, I'm wondering about that. Those mounds on the left look really cool, but if you had moved over there would you have ended up with a very quick trip down?

Thanks to everyone for the comments.
John - I know what you mean about the straightforward foreground...not my usual style. I did go down and to the left a little bit, but didn't like the comp as much because the pyramid became too unbalanced. I also had to stay back from the rime ice, because it is super unstable and there were about 30 climbers ascending the gully just out of view in the center of the frame. The other thing was that I just didn't have much time to search around for comps. I composed this image only a few minutes after reaching the top and the light was changing fast.
I did a quick write up for the blog which can be viewed here . Most of the images are from my Canon S90 and are more for documenting the climb than creative photography.
