A Postcard From Hell
Last night I walked out along a ridge in Chupadero (just north of Santa Fe) and watched the Las Conchas fire continue to burn my beloved Jemez Mountains. The smoke plume was again huge as the fire moved into virgin old growth mixed conifer. Thunderstorms came in and there were a few tiny little showers--more of a tease than anything. I figured I would capture the scene for posterity.

Here is the scene from my backyard on Sunday when the fire started. Took this just before we evacuated.

From Hell is right! The view from your backyard is horrific as well :frown: I don't like this continuing summer thread we've got going here..."and this is the view of the fire from MY backyard..."

I hear the monsoons are on the way. I hope tomorrow. Cool shots, too. I remember a fire that threatened Los Alamos about 15 years ago, too.
