Swan and Alpes
Taken today at the lake,Its very quiet bird wise but there is a long path leading out into the lake and some of the swans are nesting along it,Plenty of people use the path so the swans are fairly used to on lookers,I took the 20d and 16-35 and added a poloriser to try to bring some deatil into a crap sky,I took a few shots but felt the conditions warrented some flash so had to rely on the built in jobby

Hi Dave

Nice shot and what a BG - worth another visit in better weather!

Good idea Dave.
Apart from the rather dull light my only other concern would be that the swan's head is being split by the skyline. One of the very few images I see where a higher viewpoint would have maybe had more impact.

Cheers,
John

Nice try me olde'mucka! At least you know where you're going when the sky clears. Remember your 550EX and the reflector next time too. There is something I like about it though. Whether its the mood of the sky or the different angle on a familiar subject, not sure. Have just done very similar stuff with highland red deer.

Hello Dave
I like the image, but feel that it is let down by that sky. I think a return visit should be high on the list.
Best wishes

I like it Dave, very good idea! Only nit is the Swans head is a bit centered.

A very slight move to the right and a slightly higher viewpoint would have meant the swans head could be framed by the mountain in the background. I like it and I even like the dull sky, I think a bit of a compositional viewpoint change would have made this even better.
