For the Fourth of July weekend, the influx of monsoon moisture into Arizona promised the chance of rain and clouds. Thus, I went to the less crowded North Rim of the Grand Canyon to catch a couple of sunrises and sunsets at Point Imperial and Cape Royal.
The two sunrises at Point Imperial were quite different from each other. The first was "regular" with a only few clouds too far away.
The second sunrise on Monday morning had a cloud ceiling, but a break underneath to the east. Dust from Saturday's wind and haze from the power plant made for a pleasing sunrise and telephoto work with hazy layers with yellow light.
#5 is fantastic. I'm headed out myself tomorrow, hoping the Moab area will live up to the forecast of thunderstorms... I'll be happy if I get anything close to those conditions and that wonderful light!

#1 First sunrise from Point Imperial
#3 Dawn over Navajo Mountain to the east.
The sunset at Cape Royal was really nice, giving the side of Wotan's Thone a warm glow. This image is posted in Landscape/ESS.

Mark, the monsoon moisture should be good all week, so hope you get some nice clouds over the red rock and clear windows on the horizon.
I especially like the compressed view of Mt. Hayden and #3 dawn. What a great trip you had!
