Even though the evacuation orders have been lifted for Los Alamos, the fire continues to burn in the hills above town. The local fireworks display (which is quite good for such a small town) was canceled due to the drought. So I went up on my roof and shot some photos of the other "fireworks". A car driving up my street illuminated the pinon and junipers. You can see cell towers in the lower right and also a house if you look closely.
The fire is very active on the north end of the Jemez Mountains. 127,000+ acres and 27% contained as of today. 63 homes destroyed. Still waiting for those monsoon rains!
Cool shots, Phil! Hearing all the fire news is a real bummer, I'm glad to be up north this season. Sure hope those rains show up soon.

I should send my son and D-I-L your way...EVERY time they visit it rains. They were here Friday, Saturday and Sunday...rained all three days! They left Monday...that day and today, hot and dry. Scarey shots for sure...hope the monsoon comes tonight!
