Looking to change my monitor i have looked at a HP 23 inch gloss and a HP 22 Matt both with a resolution of 1080 can any one please give me any tips about models ect.My photography is only just a hobby but i would like a decent monitor and don't mind spending a bit as long as my loving wife does not find out.
Hi Keith I have an Eizo Flexscan S2100 and it is fantastic but was a little pricey. it looks plain and should not attract too much interest from the better half

I've had two HP LP2475W monitors as recommended by AA. Really pleased with them and at a sensible price. Solid, uninteresting looking and black so will not attract attention!!
The HP one is OK but it only dose 92% of the sRGB colour gamut, the dell dose 100% of the sRGB colour gamut but if you need more the 24" dell U2410 dose 110% sRGB & I think 99% of aRGB but it's around £450. Max colour Support: 1.07 billion colours.

Don't know what bit of waffle you've been reading Mr.T, but it's a bit wrong.
Hi keith I bought the HP LP2475W, i tend to do every AA says, make sure you calibrate it and it will do you proud. I am delighted with mine and know you mean my wife thinks my 200 - 400 costs £400. its easier that way!
Nec Spectraviews and Eizos are rather nice if you want to spend a bit and get something good. Could always use a second screen of a lower specification to hold palettes etc for PS (some use iPads).
I've heard about the HPs a couple of years when I was looking and they always got reasonably good reviews. Has technology not moved on a bit? I would definately go out and get a demonstration and see with your own eyes before committing hard earned cash.

Here is http://wildlifeinpixels.com/video/LP2475WvAdobeRGB1998.mov an icc profile for a calibrated LP2475W (the one in colour) in comparison with AdobeRGB1998 (white wire frame).
That's just a wee bit bigger than 92% of the sRGB colourspace.......more like 92% of the Adobe space.
Anyway, I'm not up for an argument with anyone - off to Norway at 3am tomorrow.
Thanks Keith.

Ps have fun in Norway
