Yesterday afternoon went to Garden of the Gods Park. I was greeted by a thunderstorm immediately after I went in - was seeing that coming while we were in the Balancing rock area ..
Wanted to capture the sunset but the sky was too cloudy for one. Was rewarded by a rainbow over the Garden though ... it was really a wonderful sight. I perhaps couldn't capture it as I saw but tried my best.
Another horizontal comp - your C&C is highly appreciated ... Thanks for looking.

We've been getting some real gully washer storms lately. Glad you got some time in the park between showers! I like the last comp the best. Pretty sweet rainbow. I think the foreground could be sharpened just a tad, but its a nice shot.
The horizontal rainbow shot is AWESOME, Soubhik! I keep trying to find an opportunity to get a lightning shot in the Garden, storms are made for that place!
I agree with Stan, that horizontal shot is really nice.

Umm, do you know how long I've been trying to get a rainbow shot from that exact spot? DECADES, dude! Excellent shots! The birds photo is amazing, too.

The last image is very very nice. Maybe lighten the foreground trees. The patch of open sky really adds the image.
The tails being fanned on the birds is good. I like the translucence it gives to the tail feathers.

Like the last one and the birds. The last shot is awesome. Saw the rainbow over my back yard and was hoping someone would get a good picture of it. Was one of the stronger rainbows I've seen in a while.
I was thinking of driving down to GOG yesterday as a lightning storm and a downpour gave some dramatic audio/visual entertainment to Woodland Park yesterday, but then opted to stay home. Now having seen your results, I'm currently kicking myself to the point of exhaustion for not following through on my original thoughts. Wonderful shots, and the last rainbow shot is simply fantastic!
Actually, these are all real good! #1 is pretty underexposed, though (..see your histogram). And I really like the birds with that high key background.
Ahhh, but the rainbow images are in a category of their own. That horizontal version in particular is beautiful! Great job being in the right place at the right time.
If you're using PS, consider trying this setting in the Shadow/Highlight tool to get some excellent detail from the foreground:
Set both Shadows & Highlights sliders to--
Amount-30
Tonal Width-30
Radius-100
Tweak to taste.
These are my default setting for that tool, and I usually get good results with it.
Soubhik, #4, first and foremost, you composed the rock stacks about as good as it gets. The beautiful rainbow is just an added bonus.
Next, research PS techniques to bring out some foreground tree shadows. Your camera is doing its job, it's the post processing that could use some tweaking.
Wow John - that worked like magic !! I have made that my default as well
Thanks a lot for all of your inputs and comments.
I am posting the modified version of #4 as well.
