And get to Crested Butte. I just walked in the door from 2 days down there and it is...INCREDIBLE!!! Gothic Road and Brush Creek Road are crazy with color. On a sour note, you cannot get to Paradise divide..Slate River, Washington Gulch and Gothic are all closed at higher elevations due to leftover snow from avalanches, etc. But then, who needs to go up there when there is so much color down low. I'm too tired to post anything tonite but I will try for something on Tuesday. In the meantime, pack up and go, go go.!!

Kinda sorta making me reconsider. 9News was pimping this weekend as being "one of the best" times to see CB. I have to be back in Denver on Sunday morning but maybe a quick overnighter....hmmmmm.

Sounds great!, Unfortunately I am scheduled to teach a workshop in Hays, Kansas and then shoot in the sand hills, so I am going to have to wait a couple of weeks!

I was there with Jack, it's pretty incredible!

Wait, we have to wait til Tuesday to see photos? TUESDAY??? You expect us to wait a whole...oh wait, today's Tuesday, isn't it? Never mind...

I'm heading out today and was conflicted over whether to go to the Aspen area or the San Juans. Sounds like CB on the way to one of those, and we'll see if I make it elsewhere. Thanks for the heads-up, Jack!

Good luck Todd...bring back lots of good stuff! I will be in Ouray on Sunday and Monday. If you see a guy hitching a ride on YB, stop and pick me up! My wife won't let me take her jeep liberty off road.

Hrm. I was gonna hit up the 'bells this weekend, but maybe I'll take a route through CB first. Thanks for the info, Jack, and where are those pictures! Tuesday's half over you know.

"My wife won't let me take her jeep liberty off road.
But...that's a road that leads to YBB, isn't it?

I'm tempted. I've never been in the area, is it easy enough to find a spot to car camp?
Posted by Bill Bean on July 12, 2011 at 11:10 PM
David, there are lots of places to get off the Kebler Pass road and car camp but not too many established campgrounds. If you get there at a reasonable time it should be no problem finding a spot. A word of warning: this weekend is the Wildflower Festival so prepare to rub elbows with lots of folks.

BTW Jack, Tuesday is almost over....where are the images???

Don't I wish!
