Does anyone here use an iPod for a portable hardrive? Sounds like I'd need an adaptor for it to connect to my 20D. Since I'm a music freak, I think this would be my best option for image storage on trips. Any input? Thanks.

Kevin,
Not familiar with the Ipod. Never owned one, probably never will. But for image storing while in the field. My vote goes to the Epson P2000 Viewer. Although the Ipod handles some camera RAW images, I don't think you can view them on an Ipod after transfer from your card. Unless you shoot RAW plus JPEG/ What a waste of space. Other things to consider... With the Ipod you will need to lug around a card reader adapter to transfer from CF card to Ipod. As for plugging directly from camera to Ipod, not sure if you can, but even if you can WHY... The process of uploading from your camera straight to the Ipod will waste precious battery power on both the camera and the Ipod. Plus I think the Epson has a larger viewing screen. Also not sure that the Ipod will allow you to view your image data such as f-stop, exposure, histogram... The Epson will. Plus you can zoom in on the shot and much much more then the Ipod...

Kevin,
I second Martin's vote for the Epson P-2000. I've had mine for several months now, and it has been very reliable and convenient. It has a 3.8 inch screen, a built-in CF card slot, supports Canon RAW images, and holds 40GB. I paid slightly less than $400 after rebate. Whenever I fill a CF card, I immediately download it to the Epson which I carry on my belt in its carrying case. When I get home, the Epson downloads to my laptop via a USB 2.0 connection. Only thing it won't do is slide shows and zooming of RAW images; you need JPEG's for that.
You might also want to do a search of these forums for the P-2000 and the iPod. I have read other negative comments about the iPod as a portable image storage device.
Good luck!
Charlie

Hey Kevin, just bought the 40gig ipod with the same thought process. Only problem is you can't view the downloaded images immediately. (They have to be downloaded to your pc first). I use a flashtrak made by smartdisk that works great. It has a 3x5 screen so I can view the images, use it as a back-up. The Ipod was purchased primarily for music with the bose system. good luck. Jeff
I hear it's slow, but I have no direct experience.
I like the fast less expensive models without screens. I have a screen on my camera, I don't want to pay for another one. I either bring two screenless devices (PD70X) and download to both, or a laptop and one PD70X as a backup drive for my laptop.
Screenless I recommend the PD70X/HyperDrive HD80 or the Nexto.
High end I would wait a month or two for the Epson-4500 or the Giga Vu Pro Evolution.
Two good screenless units are much safer than one high end unit with screen.

Kevin,
Before you buy, maybe read this... Seems that the newer model has fewer photo capabilities.
