I spent 2 weeks with another photographer (Tomas Kaspar) traveling the ring road in Iceland. We were very burned out at the end of the trip, but it was a great experience and we both have quite a few shots we were happy with. This one was taken near the end of our trip, We spent a couple days in this area waiting for some good light. I like to call this one Tomas's tripod holes. It was the only spot on the side of this hill that had any type of flowers we could use, I actually used Tomas's tripod here ;) though not for this shot as his was too wobbly from loss of one of the bolts that holds the leg. Duck tape works in an emergency!
D3x, 16-35 @ 17mm, f11, CP and a 3 stop Soft GND. I shot this a couple ways, one using the filter and the other using 2 shots, one for highlights and one for shadows. It came down to which was the easier to PP, filters are still very useful!

This is superb Douglas; I like everything about it! The foreground is rich with the nice yellow highlight, the falls are perfect (nice shutter speed), and the ridge is a nice diagonal. Great sky color tops it off.

This is beautiful Douglas. I like everything about it. The range of colors here (yellow, green, blue, magenta) work together to create a very strong image. I hope to see more of your Iceland images.
