My photography has been on hold as the wife and I prepare for twins sometime this fall. I wanted to try and get out one last time before my photography becomes gushy baby pics and not so much travel and outdoors. Looking for ideas.
My goal is to do a Sat, Sun, home late Monday trip next weekend. I want to do something I haven't done so thinking something around Crested Butte. Ideally I could car-camp in areas where I could do some short hikes, great photography practice, fly fish (lakes or streams) and have two dogs so not too close to a road for camping. I saw some fo the suggestions for Tim's post earlier in the week. Do any of these offer all of these and more? Not entirely opposed to backpacking in to a base camp, just want to keep it to under 8 miles if that's the plan.
Any suggestions? Any areas that you would say if you've lived in Colorado and haven't seen this you're a fool (like I'm thinking I need to go to Keebler Pass).
I am also considering the the San Juans, but don't want to spend all day in the car to get there.
I spent last weekend in Crested Butte at Lake Irwin with Jack Garrett and some others. Did some photography, morning fishing, target shooting, and hiking with my Australian cattle dog.
Hope you had a good trip Lance. My twins arrived at the beginning of June so I've been unable to shoot this summer's special wildflower explosion. Shoot while you can! Once they come, all your time will be spoken for.
