Does anyone know what the status is of the
wildflower season in the Eastern Sierra?
At what elevation are the flowers coming in,
and what kind of a season are you anticipating?

Are there any photographers residing in that
area or information centers that you would re-
commend that I contact?

Thank you.

Cordially,

Robert Dayton

Here are the visitors centers that I have sometimes found helpful; it depends on who you talk to. If you can get hold of a Botanist at the BLM in Bishop they are the most knowledgeable. I am also planning to go to Eastern Sierra but not until August. I will share what I learn and find.

robert,

Looks to be a good year for flowers over here on the East side. Last weekend I went up to Long Lake which is on the Bishop Pass Trail out of south lake, bishop creek canyon. Lots of flowers just below Parchers Resort thinning a bit to the trail head parking which is around 9200' I believe. Most of the flowers below parchers are the typical indian paint brush, lupine, penstimen, and yellow and purple flowers I don't know the names of. Lots of shooting stars out at the trail head and some at long lake, 10,800 but it will be probably next weekend or towards the end of this month that the flowers at Long Lake come into bloom. Just a guess there.

Was up at Rock Creek Canyon to Mack Lake on Sat. Lots of flowers along the road between, oh I'd say Iris CG to Rock Creek Lake. Beyond RC Lake to Mosquito Flats flowers showing but less than the lower elevation. Same along LLV trail. Shooting stars out but still a good week or two to go above 10, 000.

Mosquitos were much more prevalent this past weekend than the weekend before and it's not even at it's peak yet! lots of water still flowing fast, but looks like peak flows were last week.

Wish I could give you a more detailed flower report, but I don't really know my flowers too well.
