Steamboat Area
I spent the weekend in Steamboat Springs for my Son's soccer tournament. It is beautiful up there right now, nice and green!

I was able to get out one morning for a few hours. Thanks to Rod for some location suggestions.

This was my first time to Fish Creek Falls. I got a late start and missed a beautiful sunrise, which would have been nice to have over the falls. These sure are hard to shoot. I wanted to get closer to the base but couldn't see a way that didn't require ropes or swimming. The flow is pretty impressive.

There were a few areas with nice flower patches. The SE side of muddy pass is blanketed with Arnica and sunflowers.
This field was near the Dry Lake campground. I'd planned to come back here and spend more time but didn't get the chance.

Found some nice Columbine specimens across the road from the above field. I REALLY wanted to come back and work this area some more.

My elder son and I are heading out for four days next weekend. We're still deciding where to go. I hope we see some of you out and about!

Kalin, I hope our town treated you well. The best is yet to come for Steamboat area wildflowers. Buffalo Pass, Dumont Lake, Stillwater in the Flat Tops are a week to two weeks away. Like CB, it's all about elevations. But from everything I've seen from here to Crested Butte, it's a banner year. If I had to pick a weekend to be out in the high country---at least in the northern half of the state, I'd go for the weekend after next. But anytime from now on, you're going to find lots of subjects along the way.

I checked out Stillwater area yesterday and I'll post a few pics once my 24-hour waiting period is up. :frown:

Great shot of those columbines! That TS lens really works well here.

Nice Kalin,
I was just up there over the 4th and heading back up the weekend of August 6th. Really like the 2nd one. That is some impressive flows for fish creek. I played golf at Rolling Stone and it was tearing through there (no retrieving the many balls I donated). The nice thing about the flows being so high for the falls shot is less people to clone out walking around the base of the falls  .

Columbines are great! The other shots are excellent as well. What a perfect time to shoot those falls with that impressive flow!
