Roxborough this morning
It was nice meeting Morris this morning before 5:00 at the gate to the park.
I know that my panoramas don't work well here, but I'll post it anyway. This is a 5 exposure blend and 4 vertical frames wide taken from the south rim trail in the park.

Here's another 5 exposure blend taken from lower on the trail, but only a single frame wide.

It was great meeting you, Jim! I like the pano a lot and what a great view from the south end just like you said. Really nice light in the second shot as well. I still can't get over how green the place was even though we are well into July. The monsoons have helped a bunch. :wavey:

I just realized again that Photomatix made the top part of the sky in my exposure blended panorama (not HDR) darker than the area right above the mountains. I don't understand why Photomatix keeps getting the lighting backwards.I went back and burned in the lighter section above the mountains to make it not so obvious.

Jim, If you have Lightroom, you could try using LR/Enfuse. I find it works much better than photomatix and you can get if for a $5.00 donation.

Beautiful shots from an interesting location. I like the compositions in both. The panoramic really works well as it gives the impression that those rock formations just keep going on into the distance.

Really like the light and clouds in the first image. Very nice!

I also like the pano Jim. The sky photo matrix created for you makes it look more like a sunset than sunrise  , but i do like the comp and the remaining part of the image a lot.
