I know everyone has been to Garden of the Gods lately and shot it a zillion times, but here's the thing - I'm going to be in the Springs on the 22nd anyway to deliver a print to the BAC and I figured I would make a day of it. Would anyone be interested in meeting me there for a hike/shoot? Any suggestions on where specifically to go other than the very basic paved tourist trails near the main lot? I would appreciate directions., etc.
Becky, Like Ken pointed out This Sunday will be awesome to shoot in the Park. For directions go to my site and read my travelogue on the Garden i have a map and reference photos to help you!
I also have some shooting spots mentioned in my own article on GoG. Click on Writings and scroll down to Articles. Also, check out the two "hot spots" articles linked off the main CNP page.
There are many unique views in addition to the usual ones you've seen pictured. The challenge is to find something that hasn't already been "done to death". There's still lots of opportunities, though. Try to get there right before sunrise. That's when you can capture those magical colors in the rocks. Any other time and your pictures just turn out "so - so".
Many of the classic shots have been taken from the top of either of the two "hogbacks" just east of the main rocks. You'll see faint footpaths leading up to the ridge area.
