John and I would like to get the ball rolling on offering opportunities for PNWNP members to get together. Various types of gatherings are possible and suggested as follows:
1. PNWNP Main Event. Once or twice per year. Moderators organize these for a central location such as Centralia. Education and/or presentation and/or photo show with socializing. Open to all NPN members and invited guests. Family friendly.
2. Coffee Roundtable. Bi-monthly, alternating north and south with 3 in WA and 3 in OR. Mar, Jul, Nov in Seattle region; Jan, May, Sep in Portland region. Informal get-together organized by local PNWNP member(s), at organizer's chosen cafe, to discuss any topic of interest related to photography: tutorial/ Q & A, favorite local shoots, gear, trip plans/reports, etc. Open to all PNWNP members and NPN member visitors. Followed by a brief report post on the forum.
3. Outings. These are for getting together to shoot. One or two per year organized outings for the region. Any number of informal (ad hoc) outings locally. All posted in PNWNP Forum and open to members (and their invited photographer guests). Family friendly. Followed by a trip report post on the forum.
4. Seasonal photo contest. Winner's photo for each season will be featured on the PNWNP splash page and in the banner on the forum page.
John and I will start things off, so be sure to watch for events to be posted. Main events will appear as a sticky thread. Others in the regular postings. We'd like for PNWNP to be the biggest and best "camera club" in the region! Meet up, share, learn, have FUN.
Great ideas. During the past 6 years I've been a NPNer we've had some enjoyable outings, some with more successful photography than others, but enjoyable non-the-less. We also had an enjoyable Photoshop gathering once where we talked about some techniques. I look forward to what opportunities may come. My time is pretty crunched for photography right now, but I'm hopeful I'll be able to join in something.
Sounds great. It would be great to meet a lot of great NW photographer folk!
