I was in the Bodie Hills today and there are some nice displays and a number of species in bloom, especially lupines, paintbrush and buckwheats. Most of the flowers are found at the higher elevations along Geiger Grade Road. There are also some nice views across to the Sierra Nevada. I have posted a detailed report and some photos at: http://naturalhistorywanderings.com/2011/07/30/bodie-hills-wildflower-report-73011/

Thanks for the report, Sandy!! You have some nice flower images on your linked site. I especially like long-leaved paintbrush with the dead wood around it.

Harley and and Michael,

Thanks for the compliments. The rainy periods on this trip have given me time to write reports and upload photos.
