Drove up to the Clear Lake area near Silverton and the wildflowers were just outta control up there! What a great year, eh?
Spent the night and had the whole place to myself.
#2-This won't make the cut, but it just shows the late afternoon conditions. After this, the deluge.
A Lightning Trigger was used here, as it was just too bright to leave the shutter open for any appreciable length of time.
They are ALL top notch! That lightning shot is really, really cool. And no, I wasn't in the area, but I'll bring clouds with me when I head down for the week tomorrow.
Nice ones John! #1 and #3 are fantastic. The wildflowers look great. I will be up in that area next week, so hopefully I come back with something as great as this.
Beautiful conditions on the sunrise, and the fog image is a wonderful comp. But the dark drama of the lightning shot gets the biggest rise out of me. Sure makes the cut for me. Love how the bolt mimics the ridge too.

Great series, John. I loved them all, and god, how I wished I could've made out there these past few weeks.

Like 1, 3 & 4 with 3 being unbelievable.

John, these are all SUPER shots! I am partial to 3 & 4...that reflection in 3 is incredible and the clouds on 4 does remind me of Todd's shot. Excellent stuff!!!
John. #3 to me is stunning. The image certainly has the classic San Juan feel to it. Those early morning low clouds, just hanging out overnight; left over from the late afternoon storms from the day before. Looks wet. Looks verdant. Looks lush. Looks beautiful. Sounds like everyone is headed to the San Juans this week. Including me! Your image has inspired me...to work hard...and to bring more rain gear.

Nice work, John. We didn't get quite the same luck with the clouds last Monday morning, so I am digging all of these.

All are excellent, as I expected, but #3 is incredible! That should be a mural on a wall in someone's house!

I like #1, but #3 is totally over the top cool. A really nice comp. I've always found that rocky slope to the right of this pool to be pretty hard to work with since it is so brown & stark. You were definitely able to overcome that obstacle with this arrangement.

Better head back to the desert, cause clearly you have no idea what you're doing in the mountains!

Wow! These are masterful! #3 and #4 really stand out. Glad to see you were blessed with the same afternoon weather we have been in #2! Really beautiful images

Thanks for any comments and suggestions! Looks like these flowers will still be in abundance for another week at least
Also really like the classical comp in #3. Good stuff!
I'm heading to the San Juans on Wednesday. Hope you didn't pick all the flowers.
