Odd, Jesse, you were just one day from being called out to give Morris his "Speer" fix! Impeccable timing, and impeccable image! Man, that is a grand display and your comp with the pink ones mixed in makes my mouth water.

Yea, I was up the Daisy Pass road yesterday so I know what you mean by mosquitoes. I couldn't get clear up the pass because there is still snow covering the road. Flowers were good on the way up though. Fine image Jesse. Those mountain sunflowers have been everywhere this year. Glad to see you posting. This place looks familiar, . Trying to fit in myself.

The color in this is really nice! I don't normally do wildflower shots, but looks like if I am ever going to start, this is the year. TFS
Aside from a gorgeous field of flowers, the visual payoff are those beautiful peaks in the background. Simply lovely.
And it's always good to see you and your work here.
A minor nit, though. With the preponderance of yellows here, it appears that the green grass has a slightly yellow cast. Moving the Blacks slider in the Greens in Selective Color helps with that and makes the flowers 'pop' a bit more. Hope you don't mind the advice...
P.S. You gonna go see Eilen Jewell at the Filling Station this Wednesday?

Thanks for commenting everyone. Of course I don't mind, John. Admittedly, this was a very hurried processing and JPEG. You noticed what I didn't really care to fix after the fact. Shooting wildflowers - although nice to look at - wasn't really my goal on this trip ...
Awesome sauce ... I love it Bret! Well, the mosquitoes really were awesome, that's for sure. Chased me out of the backcountry after one night. Haven't seen anything like it since a trip into the backwaters of Minnesota/Canada. I guess that's what happens after an epic moisture year, and a trip into a land of 100 lakes. Yeah Stan, half of my images are muddied up with blurry mosquitoes. It was ridiculous.
Dean, thanks for the info on Daisy Pass. Glad I didn't take that detour after all.

Wow, those black and whites are awesome. I was reading through your blog a little at work today and it seems like the last two photographers were BW guys. Is that where you're motivation is lately? Maybe if I would have read a little further it says. Really like the BW treatments. Do you convert to BW with a plugin or within CS or LR?

Also, one of the large ones in the middle of the page (2011_0730_083746) didn't load for me on safari, everything else loaded very quick.

Thanks Lance. Kenna and Johnson are simply two artists whose work blows me away. I wasn't focusing on b/w artists per se. They simply produce stunning, innovative art - and do so to perfection using b/w as part of the equation.
B/W is certainly part of my own equation these days. It really suits the what, where and how of my imagery. I use Silver Efex within LR. There are some images that can only be said with color (especially in autumn!), but that's maybe 10% of what I see/shoot these days. Glad you enjoyed them.
Not sure why one of the images didn't load. Would like to know if others see that. Seems to be OK on my end.

The flowers are really the icing -- I really like your series of B/W, taken together they fit very well together thematically.Looks like a really productive trip despite the bugs. Ugh, mosquitoes. Yeah I ran into those guys last year in WY.

A little scene from the Beartooth Mountains, near the Wyoming/Montana border ... the mosquitoes were as big as the flowers, I swear ...
Got any pics of the skeeters?

The biggest/worst skeeters I've ever given blood to were on a 5-day trip near there. If we hadn't driven from CO, I'm sure we'd have bailed.
