Ice Lake Basin: after the storm
After shooting Clear Lake (as in my recent post) we headed up to ILB. After setting up basecamp in the lower basin, we had some lunch and were quickly greeted by rain. It rained and hailed for the next 7 hours or so :frown: The next morning the clouds were still in full effect, but we were so tired of sitting in our tents we decided to head up to the upper bain anyway. Luckily, the clouds started to break on the way up and we were happy to find the upper basin bathed in sunlight. Not the most original shots of the upper basin, but we enjoyed the light play of sun an clouds on the peaks.

The wind was calm at the moment, which made for good reflections.

The clouds started closing in again, so we headed up to Island Lake after this.

These are beautiful, Paul. I like the first shot the best because of the light on the peaks and the combination of clouds and blue sky. All three shots are well composed and capture the stunning beauty of this place.

I agree with Brian--#1 is the winner here. Looks good!

Those are great. I actually like #2 the best. It shows off the peaks and also has a more distinct reflection. The clouds in #1 are nice for sure.

Beautiful! Great light and reflection. Really like the greens.

I actually prefer the dappled lighting, dynamic clouds, mo' lake and perfect snowfield reflection in #2. Bravo, Paul!

I like #2 and would even look at a pano crop and a tad brightening. Sweet image! :toast:

Thanks, Dan and John -- and thanks for the suggestion, Art.

I would be happy with all of 'em, but I think you posted the best one first. Seems more balanced in every way. Be proud!

Thanks, Soubhik -- I was lucky, because I had left all of my filters back a basecamp.
