Sadly, Saterday April 15, in Holland, someone hurled a brick through my car window and stole my minitrekker with
Canon 400mm Do Is USM lens with the number 2623
Canon 20D
Sigma 24-60
anglefinder
converter
batteries and more.
It was in broad daylight, plenty of other cars and people around. I was 50m from the car for all of 10 minutes, shooting some swans on the river. People saw the deed and shouted, all to no avail.
If anyone is offered the lens or other stuff...Please contact me.
I am in Holland for a while to care for elderly mother.
Hence my lack of posting.
Luckily I have the D60 and 70-200 left and shall contact insurers as soon as Easter is over.
Hi Paula.
Very sorry to hear what has happen to you and at a time when you were at a low ebb anyway.
I have an angle finder you can have Paula and will forward it on to you when you get back home .
Mick
Every photographers nightmare-wouldnt you just like five minutes with these scumbags-Hope it resolves itself quickly

Do not give hope! The same happened to me, but the theives dumped the bad with the lenses and flashguns still inside. Apparently it wasn't what they were looking for. They dumped the bag less than a mile from the crime sight... so go back and look around!!!

Paula,
Sorry to hear about the theft - Hope someone catches them. Do you have any serial numbers of the gear?

Couldn't have happened to a better person, I to hope the insurance helps you to get back on your feet. Doesn't take away the fact that some thoughtless did this to you.
Its probably hard but keep smiling Paula but keep ya chin up
I hope the insurance comes through for you. Can't imagine what I'd be feeling in your position.
All the best,
Pete

Hi Folks, Thank you so much for your kind words. I felt very touched.
Indeed, losing precious possesions is hard to take although they are replacable 'things'.
I do not know yet if the insurance company is coming up tromps.
I may have to live on tinned sardines for the next year or two in order to buy new stuff.
I am even considering 'going Nikon' for the 200-400 which I have seen such good results with and seems so very much more versitile than a fixed lens.
I am here in the Netherlands to care for my dying mother but when things normalise again I shall do some more posting again. I do lurk however and admire your many good shots.
Again, thank you so much for your support.
Been away for a while, so I am just catching up...
Sorry to hear this and I really feel for you and
Having 'been there' the best remede to to sit back for month or so, assess what is important for you in a camera/lense system and then jump back in as best as you can...

Obviously not condoning or justifying acts of theft but judging from what you said you surely didn't leave ANYTHING in plain sight in your car did you
Hope you are fully insured

Keep an eye out on Ebay some of these things do occasionally come up on there.
