Epic Wild(flower) Week
While there’s a lot to be said for the usual wildflower haunts of Crested Butte, Yankee Boy, American Basin. Ice Lake Basin, and Shrine Pass, with our deeper snows this winter and long wet spring up here in my neck of the woods, I suspected that this could be an epic year for wildflowers in the northern part of Colorado. Early inspection trips to Dry Lake Campground and the Stillwater Reservoir area confirmed this. So over the past week I had the opportunity to explore the region in depth---and places like Coffee Pot Road, Dry Lake, Stillwater, Vaughn Lake, Dunkley Pass, Ripple Creek Pass, Trapper’s Lake, and Dumont Lake more than lived up to my expectations. We never saw another nature photographer in seven days. The photograph above is from the Ripple Creek Pass area in the Flat Tops. An illustrated travelogue of the highlights can be seen Here. The sequence is in number order but not in arrangement order.

Great to see a strong collection from off-the-beaten-path locations. Quite the epic year.

Your thumbnails are actually full-sized images that are displayed smaller by specifying thumbnail dimensions. Is that intentional? Just takes a loooooong time to load the page, even on hi-speed connection.

Love the colors in the foreground. Nice looking clouds as well.

The pink flowers in #17 are some sort of Gilia. The image you've shared here has some contrast and depth of color. Really epic conditions throughout.

Great collection from one shooting journey! My faves are Lynx Creek and Coffee Pot Lupine, the rest are an extrememly close second.

Awesome collection of images, its great to see some of the less visited areas. Looks like the flowers were top notch and the weather cooperated for the most part. Nice work!
