Just wondering if anyone has done any photography there. I'll be spending time on the east and west coasts of the island and taking the obligatory whale/marine life boat tour. Recent posts reported pods with 80 Orcas, so I'm hopeful we'll see some great sights on the tour. I found a tour with a boat captain who has a passion for photography.
Anyway, I thought I'd throw my question out in case anyone has photographed the area and had any suggestions.
Thanks!

The city of Victoria is wonderful for non-nature, or man and nature type of photography. And just west of the city, maybe 10 minutes, is a fort where Fisgard Lighthouse is located. Wonderful place and a very picturesque lighthouse....Checkout Butchart Gardens too...it's pretty impressive. On the way to the gardens there's a great indoor butterfly exhibit...those are a couple of ideas I remember from a trip several years ago...have fun, can't wait to see some pics.

I can't give you any info about the island but I was in the area on a whale watch about a month ago. There were lots of Orca in the pod we followed - 80 is definitely a possibility. They were quiet in the morning but very active that afternoon. This was shot with my longest lens, a 150, and its heavily cropped. It was a great time. I hope they are as active for you too.

Too cool Steve!
I'm unfamiliar with that are too Ryan, would love a report and shots upon your return. Have fun!
I'll certainly share what I find. I'm sure the telephoto lens will get a workout on the whale tour. I found some nice info on the CANP forum too. We actually won't be in Victoria much at all, so some of those sights might have to wait for another trip. Most of our time will be in Tofino.
