Metlako Falls
Metlako Falls, Columbia River Gorge,
I was printing a photo today of Punchbowl falls and came across this take of Metlako Falls

Richard, I really love this. You can cut the mood with a knife. I wouldn't change a thing. I love the scenic shots on your WEB page too, especially the knarled pine shots.

The only thing I wish you'd done is move a little to your left so the falls and the tree trunk are separated. Small nit. This is a beauty.

Great shot russ!

Todd, I shot this location in May. Unfortunately that is the only place you can shoot it from and there is no way to separate the tree from the top of the falls. This is a really good image however, I would increase the exposure just a touch and bring up the greens...Oregon is all about green!

A camera mounted on a small model helicopter could make that separation suggestion work, however that would not be a common accessory in most photographer's bags. Love the mood, but would like to see it a bit lighter in some of the lighter green areas to add depth to it.

Here's your set up for Don's suggestion:

Who doesn't carry a helicopter in their bag? :jump:

I would personally prefer a slightly longer shutter speed so you don't get the 'chunky' water, I'd rather see it smooth but that's just my preference  Would like to see some more in the greens as well

I like the shutter speed you chose as it more clearly shows the power of these falls. I like the darker exposure, but agree with others that lightening it a bit (selectively) would put more emphasis on the Oregon greens.
Real nice catch!

I also agree with others about a bit of lightening this Richard, but overall, I love this and the mood it creates. Nice work!
