Another waterfall from Iceland
This one is Dettifoss. I could feel the water thundering over these from where I stood to get this shot. You dont really get a good feeling of scale, but these falls are huge. Another overcast day and grey and black rocks. Most of the time, color was not an option.

D3x, 16-35 @ 16mm, f11, 5 seconds.

Wow, I can feel the power. Excellent choice of shutter speed, Douglas. I also like the black and white, it accentuates the fall, leaving a nice glow there in the middle. I like the vertical, but wonder how this would look as a landscape version with the fall in the left part, leaving the river below flowing off to the right...awesome shot and excellent post processing. :toast:

I would have liked that comp too, I had the camera in landscape orientation at first David, problem was, 16mm wasn't wide enough to capture the shot. Moving back wasn't an option as it was a very deep gorge so the only way to get the falls all the way to the bottom was to stand on the edge. I think a fish eye may have worked. I remember standing there thinking "this is one of the few times an extra couple mm on the wide end would be very helpful"

Fantastic Douglas. What power. The BW does a great job of emphasizing that. I especially like the scalloping in the river on the right edge. Are you tossing this one into the Landscape Gallery?

I added a little local contrast to highlight that

Hadn't thought about it John. Too many threads to keep track of

Wonderful BW conversion. I love the mist and can truly feel the volume of water.
