Lance, I am sorry all that didn't work out for you. I have SEP2 on an 8 gig, 64 bit Win7 machine (Dell) and my wife has it on an HP 8/64 Vista machine. Her video memory is integrated on the motherboard and I have a Nvidia Geforce 9800, 512 MB PCI card. Absolutely no trouble installing or using it on both machines.
Sorry you couldn't get SEP to work, despite valiant efforts.
Just a suggestion, but CS5 has great tools for working with B&W. I use a combination of the Channel Mixer, and Tony Kuyper's Luminosity mask actions on levels or curves layers on an uncompressed *tif file. I also use various layers for dodge and burn. If you don't have Tony's actions, you can still use levels or curves adjustment layers on selections.
I do understand that my workflow takes more time and there is a learning curve, but it allows me to have very precise control and I don't have to lay out any more money for initial purchase or upgrades to plugins.

Yea, I'm coming to that conclusion myself, Preston. I like CS5's B&W layer presets as a starting point, and then adjust from there.
Thanks.

Hi Lance, I feel your pain about SEP2, it runs fine on my desktop but it won't run (along with the Nik selective tool) on my Dell XPS15 laptop, NIK says it's something to do with the chip/motherboard combination and it is specific to a few types of laptops. If I have to edit on my laptop I use Lightroom 3, it's not the same but works well.

4 repliesDespite best efforts from Nik and super help from Paul D, Preston B, and David B http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/bbs.cgi?a=vm&mr=65775&CGISESSID=74085736b799ed9422a5e7b16bc69e0c&u=15551, I couldn't get SEP running on my Lenovo X201.
So, any other options with similar cool functions?
Thanks.
