Hi - I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, but decided to go ahead.

This isn't meant to be a shameless plug for my blog, but if you love your birds, please read the last 3 entries - you'll see why.

I hope it serves to inform a few more people about something that I simply hadn't appreciated still went on, or the scale of it.

Thank you.

Hello Graham
I found your blog to be informed, well balanced, and well researched. It does make depressing reading, but let us hope that this seemingly pointless practice is seeing it's own death throes.
Best wishes

The last time I was in Malta I tied to get pictures of the call birds in cages on the stone plinths they put them on. I was was just getting set up when a bloke appeared out of a stone hide next to a wall and threatened me in verbally broken English and physically with a shot gun. I pretended to be photographing the wild violas but he wasn't to impressed.!! he said something like go away !!

Crikey Graham this is crazy stuff. Surely the government there must soon switch on to the benfits of eco tourism and enforce a ban on the whole thing and demolish those monstrous shooting hides:mad:

Good to bring this up Graham. Terrible things still happen in Malta. Here's another blog entry writen by a photographer called Lars Soerink. Unfortunatly it's in Dutch but let the pictures do the translation for you.
