Kwik Camo Portable Blind **CLOSED**
Greetings all--

We thought we'd start up the Groups Buys again with products from the NPN/OPG store vendors. We'd like to make this a monthly feature and bring you a variety of good gear.

First up is the Kwik Camo Portable Photo blind. This great "bag blind" covers you and your gear so you can get close to wildlife.

We have a video detailing the Kwik Camo features here and you can find out more info on the OPG website here.

In this group buy you have your choice of two patterns: Max 4 HD and RealTree All Purpose Green.

The normal price on the Kwik Camo is $119.95, but if we get 5 or more takers we'll have a group buy price of $99.95, with free shipping for the Continental US. (You can email us for shipping rates for other areas).

Just post below if you want one at this price. We'll close this group buy on August 31, 2011 and contact interested folks for shipment at that time.

Thanks and let's get this great feature started up again!

Jim's edit - this group buy event runs until Sept. 15, 2011.

I've already got one of these so I don't need another, but I'll offer a testimonial--I love mine. Once I get set up and under my kwik camo, it's only a matter of minutes before the birds forget I'm there and go back to what they were doing (which is hopefully visiting the water hole near where I've set up). After that, it's just a matter of keeping the lens movement slow and even so I don't spook them with the movement. I've got plenty of portrait shots where the birds came so close that I could not fit the whole bird in the frame.

Looks like a great product and a real bargain at this price. However, I live in Canada and am concerned not only about shipping cost and delay but even more about customs duties and and other fees (e.g. customs broker fees) that can occur. If I compare your policy for International orders at

http://www.outdoorphotogear.com/store/shipping-policy.html

with that of B&H for example

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/HelpCenter/int-shippingRulesPolicies.jsp#Customs

I feel much more uncertain about knowing the final price of the product from you. I expect that other Canadians have ordered from you and would be interested in learning of their experience, especially if they live in Ontario. Also, it would even be better if you could improve your policy by making arrangements along the lines that B&H has done to completely remove the uncertainty for all of your products. Perhaps you could comment on that possibility. Furthermore, I have not tested the B&H policy; maybe it's not as good as it looks and you could come up with a better one.

Hi Steve and thanks for your note.

About a third of our shipments are international, with quite a bit going to Canada. Canada accounts for 7% of our monthly traffic.

We're not quite as large as B&H  and from reading it looks like they have a specific arrangement with one carrier to deliver to Canada, and that carrier acts as their customs agent. We are not of the size where we could negotiate such a setup.

On our site, when shipping to Canada, you can choose among several different shipping methods, with the costs and shipping times displayed for you before you make any purchase decision. What we can't tell you though, is the customs duties that your country charges, or the amount of time customs will take for your package.

On the whole, we find shipping to Canada not much different than here in the states, except for your recent postal strike. For an item as small as the Kwik Camo I would not think customs fees would be a major factor.

We have shipped to several NPN Canadian members recently, including some moderators, and I'd be happy to email them for a reference.

Thanks!

Chris

I have bought other photo equipment from the US and found the shipping was quite reasonable.

What is the difference between the Max 4 and the Realtree APG. I have a 500mm, does either one cover it? Do the blind come in a pouch for easy carrying?

Hi Garry

Thanks for the shipping endorsement.

Max 4 and APG are just two different patterns. APG has a little more green in it. You can see images of the patterns in our first post. The Kwik Camos do come in a pouch that has a waistbelt attached to it.

No problem in covering your 500 (or larger for that matter). The Kwik Camo is designed specifically to cover long lenses and your tripod. It has a velcro strip along the front to seal around the hood of your lens and then seal straight down to close up.

The video we made does a little better job of showing you the fit.

Thanks!

Hey Folks

We're extending the Group Buy until Sept. 15th, but if you want to go ahead and get yours, just call Kim at 866-810-2456 x1 and place your order.

That goes for any NPN member, even if you did not post here. All we need is your membership number when you call!

Thanks!

Chris
