Sleeping Bear Dunes NP was voted as the most beautiful place in America on ABC's Good Morning America this week.
I'm not partial or anything (not much!), but really, it is a great place to visit, whether for photography or a family vacation!

Congrats and all that but with all due respect, the most beautiful place in America is:
Zion! No, wait, the San Juan mountains in CO, no wait, the Grand Canyon, hmmm, maybe its Yellowstone, no its the Smokies. Oh, I know! Its...............

And among the others on that particular list of Top Ten Most Beautiful Places was my own personal favorite, Newport, Rhode Island, where my cameras have seen lots and lots of action! But one day I would love to visit parts of Michigan, especially (but not only) because it has the most lighthouses of any State in the Union.

I'm from Michigan and have been to the SB Dunes may times, and surely wouldn't vote it as the most beautiful place in America, not sure I would even vote it in the top five, Sorry fellow Michiganders for turning my back on the home state National Park.

I've never been there before and I'm sure it probably is very beautiful but from the short video I saw on the link provided I would beg to differ. I'll stick with Yellowstone/Grand Teton.

Until NPN came into my life I hadn't really seen much of Michigan from a natural beauty standpoint, but now I know how pretty the coast is up there. I don't doubt at all that Sleeping Bear is a beautiful place. Seems kind of odd for GMA to think that one place could be "most beautiful" because terrain is so different everywhere in this nation. How do you compare Oahu with the Grand Canyon (or whatever)? I also noticed that the top 10 list didn't include anything from the Pacific Northwest (the Oregon & Washington coasts are jaw-dropping at sunset) nor Alaska... guess they didn't want Denali coming in and trouncing the contest, lol. But, the article did say that "Tens of thousands of viewers voted online for this Michigan park", and considering that 2/3's of the population is in the Eastern and Central time zones, how many people have actually seen, say, Yaquina Bay, OR?
Nonetheless, Michigan is way more beautiful up in that coastal area than I would have imagined. After living in the midwest for 5 years I would say it's the clear winner back there. NE Cincinnati was definitely NOT, lol.

I totally agree, Paul...there are many beautiful places in this great country of ours, and yes, many are more beautiful than SBD! Cinci isn't all bad (my youngest son lives there!).but I wouldn't put it on my top ten list either.
