Rainbows and Unicorns
After a good morning at Coal Mine, I met up with John M and we followed a lengthy 2-track to a remote view of Marble Canyon. Our hopes were to catch the setting moon over a ridge Sunday morning, but rain clouds had other plans Sunday morning. See John's impressive "Arcs" image in the Landscape Gallery.
ARCS

A thick monsoon cloud cover prevented much of the evening light and sunset Saturday, but some light did filter through in places.

#4 Moonlight dappled the canyon floor Saturday night.

#5 Sunday morning's rainbow. We had low hopes for the morning moonset due to the rainy cloud cover to the west and above, but a low opening in the clouds to the east provided brief light golden light that created a semi-circular rainbow over Marble Bend.

Lucky #7 This appears to be a young UNICORN among the horses.
So concluded a great weekend in northern Arizona.

Great series, Doug. I saw JM's post on FB and was astounded. I need to find this two-track!

Ditto what Todd said. Wonderful images...and if someone were to mysteriously drop directions to this 2 track I would not hold it against them.

Holy hell, these are all awesome. #6 is the best, but I'd be proud to call any of these my own. I need to find this spot!

Beautiful set, Doug! I like them all but think that #5 is my favorite. This looks like a really neat place to explore and you brought home some great shots.

#1, #2 and #5 are my top picks, great series all around. :toast:

Heck, I like 'em all! Beautiful light and rainbows! The unicorn is cool too! You should have called Nat Geo!! :toast:

Well, this set caps one of your most productive weekends in photography (I strongly suspect).
I like each and every one of these with no clear favorites. You did a masterful job of capturing and 'developing' each and every image.
The moonlit canyon came out especially nice! And I love the horses (and burro) shot.
I need to hang out with you and your lucky charms more often. I had an excellent evening and morning out there, Doug!
One I won't soon forget...

As seems to be the consensus, I like them all. That B&W is especially cool!

The B&W looks great! Interesting location, looks like the kind of place you could shoot a lot.

Awesome series Doug!! #3 is a slight favorite but really hard to choose from this series. Very well done.

Oh, I like me some #2 and #6!
