We had rain here on Saturday morning for the first time in many weeks. After lunch it was still cloudy so I went for a walk in a local park to get a few images with the Panasonic LX3 point and shoot. Here are a couple working off a time tripod, in the 1:1 square mode, and then processed in B+W with Silver Effects Pro 2 which I just recently got so these were a bit of an experiment.

Another one with SEP2.
After just a few images I am liking the program.

Hey Darren, the first one is really cool! How do you like Silver Effects Pro so far? Do you know if you can download a trial version?

Darren,
I like number one as a processed photo. It has elements that tell the viewer that the photographer really meant for the photo to appear as it is. Number two sort of leaves me in-between taking this as a processed photo or bad attempt at black and white.
imho.

Remember I said trying out SEP2 ,not expert with it .....
So far it is ok. I am glad I did not pay $200 for it though. It has a variety of b+w options but to me only about half or less have real value. The rest seem gimmicky.
While I like the level of tweaking digital offers, I still find a good deal of landscapes where the sky gets all blocky or blotchy when you convert to B+W. Still hard to beat film for tonality in B+W.
I think they might have a free trial but cannot confirm.
