New lenses!
Today I received my two new lenses, a Tamron 90 mm f/2.8 macro lens and a Canon fixed 400 mm lens. I opened them up and went right outside with each of them (one at a time) into the bright sunlight and deep shade and with no tripod and tested them out. :) :) My hands were truly shaking from excitement/nervousness, but I had to do it. I've also ordered a better tripod, but it didn't come today.

I wanted to share these two JPGs with you, no processing at all and no concern about image quality, but just about the excitement of it all.

Here's the first one.

Here's the second one. It's a wild animal.

Way to go Barbara. as wife says "if you don't spend who will". Now that I know you have wild animals like that one, I no longer worry about your aligators.

Oh and perhaps more important. I really like the cat image and your new tripod whould improve the other shot.

Go Barbara.

Barbara,

I think that you have made two great lens choices. I have owned and enjoyed both of these lenses for a number of years.

The Tamron is sharp, lightweight, and compact and a joy to carry and use.

The Tamron is a classic for great value & performance. You did well. As for the wild animal, imagine my shock when I found one climbing inside my new c.1885 Watson & Sons half plate tailboard camera earlier this week!

Thanks, everyone! Very cute, Kent. :) I see you approached from the wrong (or right) side, since the animal was attempting to use the flowers for camouflage.

Congratulations, Barbara  . You can go closer with your Tamron

Have fun!
Don't hesitate to use the 400 for macro shots too - you'll get a nice bokeh, since the DOF is narrow.

Good going Barbara. Haven't had any new equipment in a very long time. Only thought is that you should have reversed the lenses for the above shots. Bee would be much closer with the 400 and the bigger subject would be better with the 90 macro. Have fun!!!! :toast:
