How About a Phoenix Sandstorm?
You've all probably have seen images and video of the THIRD sand wall to hit Phoenix, this one yesterday afternoon. My wife and I walked out of Hobby Lobby, looked east, and went "Oh no..." once again, lol! Naturally we raced home to get inside before it hit, and we made it by 3 minutes. Shut that garage door in a HURRY I did! Last time I forgot that the garage door was open about a foot for ventilation, and the storm blew all the dust inside the garage all over everything. It's so fine it just gets everywhere, but wild to see nonetheless!

Yes, icky iPhone 4 camera shot through a windshield (those aren't sensor spots, lol).

Tomorrow I get to hose down the house... AGAIN.
:jump:

Here it is just as it rolled in, just before it got all "foggy" out. This time I used my 5D2 and a 16-35mm, but I wasn't about to stay outside with that in hand, lol! Eerie look, isn't it?

Oh, and the temps dropped from 109 to 82 when it arrived which was also interesting. Back in Ohio the tornado sirens would have been blasting with a drop like that...

Ooooooh.... Memories, and not good ones! I grew up about 7 hours south and east of Phoenix, and several times a year these rolled in from Sonora. I was many miles from home on horseback once, and all I could do was picket the horse and back myself tight into a yucca and wait hours for it to clear. I can just imagine what your garage was like! The first shot, iPhone or not, nicely captures the looming approach.

Very doomsday looking. I've seen dust storms in rural areas in Texas and Nebraska but nothing like this.
