There's More in the Gore
I was hoping to join Kane on one of his crazy Gore Range treks Sat, but something came up and i couldnt get away until late yesterday. So i headed up to Dillon and hiked up to Eccles Pass. My first trip in the Gore Range, and i was impressed! Left the trail at 4 am to make it to the upper meadows by sunrise. No clouds, but some great hiking weather. Here's the view from Eccles.

2) I made it up to Guanella the evening before, just in time for this faint rainbow over Bierstadt

3) Some faint alpenglow looking up towards the range.

4) Sunrise!

Beautiful Stan! Really like the Guanella image with the rainbow. Really like the nice greens in the first image.

5) Youre jumpin the gun, Dan!
What do you think of this comp? Too divisional?

Not at all. I think the field of flowers to the left helps break it up.

Great series Stan! I liked them all. :toast:

Gorgeous series Stan. 1 and 6 are my favorites. Number one is the quintessential definition of Colorado beauty.

Nice stuff, but they all pale to your Landscape shot.Of these, 3 and 4 rock it the most.

Hi Stan, After packing the car Fri night, I woke up Sat morning feeling weak. Just didn't have it in me to do that 11 mile 4000-ft hike. All I could muster up was another measly hike up to Dream Lake the next Sunday morning.

Yep the Gores run #4 in my book. Just ahead of the Sangres, and behind RMNP, the Elks and my favorite..the San Juans.

#6 is a shot of Red Peak. #3, 4 and 5 are all shots of Demming Peak.

Your next trip should be a hike up to Pitkin Lake, Deluge Lake or Booth Lake. All 3 hikes have easy access from Vail/I70 and will not dissapoint. Pitkin will access you to the Partner Peaks, which are two of the Gores best peaks. Deluge Lake gets you access to the Grand Traverse, Snow Peak and Valhalla. And Booth Lake Basin is just stunning.

Hey Kane, click on that "Text Style Menu" link and read up on how to make a clickable link.

Stan, these all rock, but I especially like the first one. Every time I see a shot from Eccles Pass, I wonder why I've never been there.

1,2, + 4 are my favorites. Awesome work Stan!

These are all nice. I like 1, 2 and 4 the best.

1&4 are my choices. I like #1 most with the upward curve to the left ridge, and imagine being there at first light would be a real treat.

#'s 1 through 5 are absolutely gorgeous, Stan!
I'm trying to like the composition of #5. Every element (esp. those flowers) is simply beautiful, but man, I just cannot get past that tree in the dead center. How about you?

I really like the Eccles Pass shot Stan, gives me that sense of being beckoned into big mountains. The foursquare comp in #5 certainly sets it apart from most landscape images, but while my eye finds it interesting, I'm having a hard time loving it, puts me ill at ease somehow.

I really like #1. It's sort of quintesential rockies to me. :toast:

Ugh, this just makes me more annoyed that I haven't been able to get up there. The first is a classic and then the rest are just awesome -- I really like 2,3 and 4.

All are fantastic, it makes want to head up that way and do some exploring. A new location is always good for the soul. My favs. are 3,4, and 5
