My wife has a conference the first part of Sept. in LA. Just wondering if there's anything close to shoot that time of year. Not sure if I want to drag my stuff with me or bring my point and shoot and be a tourist. I have access to a rental car and she'll be busy in meetings freeing me up to shoot or lay by the pool.
You all will have a say in what I do. Any suggestions?

LA? Don't mean to be too sarcastic... but Disneyland? Universal Studios?
I dunno, maybe some local folks will chime in. Actually, that time of year, you may just want to head to the coast for some sunset/seascapes. that's about all I can think of. My impression of LA - one big traffic jam.
George, I would like to help you, but I don't know of anywhere to shoot in LA.
Try contacting Steve Sieren at http://www.sierenphotography.com/ . Steve does a lot of photography in the LA area, leads photo tours there, etc. He may have some good recommendations.

George,
Depends on what you want to shoot. There are some pretty good lowtides in September. The Palos Verdes peninsula is very close to L.A.. There's the San Gabriel Mountains, including some great trees up on Mt. San Antonio. Once again within an hour of L.A. . I concur with Harley, Steve Sieren would be an excellent resource for some other hidden L.A. gems. Use the e-mail funstion on my post if you want to contact me for more details.
