I want to make a collage of photos I took on a recent trip. I've done some internet research, but thought that someone here would probably know the best way to make a collage. I don't want to use any of the software packages that basically throw the images into the air and where they land is now the collage. I want to be able to have full control over where my images are placed and the size of the images. I have Photoshop CS5 and I'm sure there is a way to make a collage in this software. If anyone can point me to any instructions for doing this, I would greatly appreciate it.

The most simple method is to make a new document in PS and fill it with whatever color you wish. Say you make a 16x20 and fill with black. Next open images you want to use and crop them as you wish them to appear. At that point you may add a stroke of the color you desire and apply to the image. With your 16x20 document open on the desktop along with your cropped images select the first cropped image, chose the move tool and drag that image to your 16x20 and place it where you wish. It will make a new layer in your layer pallett. Do a control T and hold down the shift key (to maintain your origianl) ratio and drag image out or in( from any corner) to size it as you wish and hit enter. You can resize time an again by going back to the layer and doing another Contrl T. Build your collage one by one until it is what you want...at any time by selecting a layer, you can also add layer effects (icon at bottem of Layers Pallette marked fx.Play around and using many sizes and effects for practice.

It's really very easy in CS5 Carol, this video goes through it.
