Baiting of birds

I read Keith Bauer's comment on the most recent Avian WP with interest.

Keith said, "Just a friendly reminder from the posting guidelines:

Avian Gallery - All images with birds as the main subject. Images of captive birds, or birds baited with seed, other non-live bait or recordings must be disclosed as such.

I read on another site that this bird was attracted with a recording. Doesn't detract from a beautiful image. Just a reminder of NPN's posting guidelines. Thx."

I have never seen this statement on NPN and went looking for it in the Avian gallery site. I did not see it. All I found was a reference to note if the avian subject is captive. I would be interested in knowing where this reference is located. I must also confess that I have been in frequent violation since a fair number of my images are captured around bird feeder stations. If this guideline is intended to be enforced, it should be somewhere computer duffers like me can find them.

I agree the guidelines should probably be listed directly in the 'about this forum link' for the Avian gallery, but you can find the guidelines that reference baiting here: NPN Guidelines

Thanks, Floris.

Floris, there are different guidelines for the Avian discussion foum (about this forum link above ) than there are for the Avian Critique Gallery. The discussion forum can have more than one image posted, not just the limit of one in the critique gallery with perhaps different compositions or reposts with changes in post processing.

The other link you posted has the guidelines for the Avian Critique Gallery which should be followed when posting an image in the Avian Critique Gallery.

Mia, for clarification:

The Avian Critique Gallery's about page makes no mention about baiting etc. However, under the general NPN guidlines it does specifically talk about baiting, recordings, etc. under the guidelines for the Avian Critique Gallery. That was updated relatively recently (Feb. 2011), and those changes (clarifications really) should probably be reflected in the about page for the Avian Critique Gallery.

I don't really know what the guidelines are for showing baited images in the Avian Discussion forum, but that's not what the OP was asking about

Keith and Floris, the guidelines on baiting, recordings, etc are there - maybe not as prominent as they should be, though.

In the Avian Gallery -
click "About This Gallery", then see "Posting Guidelines" near the bottom.

Sorry Floris, I misread what you said.
