Below the Falls
I waded in to climb onto a slippery log and shot this perspective of a NW classic. Velvia 50, May 2003. Velvia gives much more vibrant greens but can't handle the highlights nearly as well as I can shooting digital RAW.

I have been standing on the almoust exact spot couple of times, but never really caught the perfect greens. This is very Velvia like. I remember when I saw a photograph from this place first time in my life. What a place I tought to myself, and after seeing it over and over I still think the same thing - What a place !!

Mark,
It does have that Velvia look. It is a nice image but I think with todays digital standards, 35mm film just doesn't do it.

This kind of image is why I like slide film. I still have about 15 rolls in my fridge that I need to use up.

It's a preference thing, and I do love Velvia. Knowing this was done with a film camera, I love the whole thing. If I did this with a digital camera, I would be working this in PS to "fix" things.

I still like the classic look of one of my most favorite falls from the Gorge. I also have been thinking of going backwards and try my hand at some film photography since I jumped right into the digital world. It would be neat to see where we've come from.

Yes, Eric. I agree. Professional digital cameras offer higher quality results than 35mm film, cheaper with more control. I shoot 99% digitally now. I also agree with Kevin that I spend MUCH more time in PS now trying to fine tune images and emulate the characteristics of slide film, especially Velvia, that I enjoy.

Wow, that is a beautiful image of this waterfall. Can I ask which waterfall this is (in Oregon I presume)?
