I haven't seen much discussion about sunflower fields this year. I've discovered that the fields in Longmont are rotated, so the fields from last year are corn fields this year. However, I did find one field at 95th and Vermillion Rd, north of Highway 66 in Longmont that is still young, so it should be good for a few more weeks. The owner of the field was very nice and even invited my friend and I onto his field to take closeup photos. Here are a couple from Monday evening.

Wow, Jim...I love both of these! The center of that first one almost hypnotizes you.

Yowza! These are nice, but that first one is high art!

I agree with Todd, that first one is a cut above the typical flower shot. Excellent work.

The bee in the first one is priceless. Besides being a killer shot, the bee pushes it over the edge. Print that one big and just stare at it!

The first image is really nice. I love the detail in the center and the bee. The only (small) distraction for me is the bright white spot and leaf showing in the upper right corner. It might be worth considering cloning that area with a sample from one of the yellow petals to make the image's outer edges completely consistent.

The first is superb!
Ditto on the comment about cloning the upper right. The break in petals is a major distraction, but I can't see cropping the image any closer.

They are both great Jim. I would suggest, as Bill and Joshua did to clone some color into the missing 'V' in the upper right, but otherwise that first one is stunning.

Thanks for all of the compliments and suggestions. I had already cloned out a completely white section on the upper left, but debated about that one on the right, so I just darkened it and left if to provide some authenticity and so the photo really wasn't overly perfect. I'll try cloning that section and re-post to compare before printing it.
Thanks again.

OK. Here's the cloned version. I think that it looks better this way, but I would like any additional feedback before I print it.
Thanks.

Look at that repost for 30 seconds and repeat after me: "you are now under my spell". That image is awesome!!
