Colorado Springs Balloon Classic weather for this weekend

One of the Colorado Springs TV meteorologists (who, IMHO is very good) put this one Twitter a few minutes ago: "I think the Colorado Balloon Classic has NO SHOT of launching Sunday morning." I had asked him earlier about Monday, and he thought Monday would be a good day. If anyone is considering coming down this weekend, you might want to try Saturday or Monday...

Oh crap! I have a Meetup group of 25 scheduled to be there on Sunday morning! :eek: Thanks for the heads up.

yeah, lots of clouds, wind--this weekend is gonna be fun for balloonists! :biggrin:

Yeah, Stan it sure was Matt.
The Balloon Classic has had a number of good years lately with little or no weather problems. Sooner or later the odds are going to work against them. At least I won't have to talk my relief into coming in early for me on Sunday. :wink:

When I checked the weather forecasts a little while ago tonight, it showed winds at 12 MPH at liftoff on Saturday, but only 3 MPH on Sunday. Maybe someone got the days mixed up or the front is coming in sooner than originally expected? My other concern on Sunday is that the wind is supposed to be coming from the south, which will blow the balloons away from the lake, not over it.

Jim, last I heard the concern for Sunday was clouds, not winds, although today did get scrubbed because of the wind. Wait and see, I guess... Colorado weather is rarely a sure thing!

The weather this morning was beautiful, except the wind direction blew them to the NW. I suppose it would be OT for me to post any balloon photos here.

For once I'm glad that the weatherman was wrong. I wasn't able to be there today, but will be out there tomorrow... I hope the weather holds out.
