Fall Trips
Training camp is upon us for the 2011 Autumn photography season. I hope everybody has been working out building up the leg muscles and core strength combined with a little meditation for enhanced creativity. Just wanted to know if anybody has any special foliage trips planned for the old standby locales or if you're finally going to get to that special place you've wanted to for years. Thanks for sharing.

This image is from the Wasatch Mts yesterday 9/1. The leaves are really turning early up there this year. Gotcha, just kidding. It's from a couple of years ago about on october first.

Thanks for opening this post Jeff. This is the first time I am actually going to try my hand at a few fall landscape shots, so I am all eyes and ears. BTW, nice shot from last season!

This will be my first year sticking around to see Colorado, I'm planning on spending a week or two in the Silverton/Ridgway area. I've been putting together a google map of all the different locations for my reference; it may be handy for others http://g.co/maps/4s88

I'm heading to Yellowstone and the Tetons late Sep./early Oct. It's been a few years since i've done fall colors there, so i'm very eager to get back. Gotta dust off my hiking boots and cold weather gear!

Hopefully some weekends to the Colorado hot spots and then Zion later in Oct/Nov.

I was planning a tentative itinerary today for the last week of September. SilverJack, Sneffels, Wilson areas. Hope to have some clouds this year.
I found this article to be very handy for my first fall color trip last year.

Well, like Jeff I'm over in Utah, so I'll try to follow the color as it moves south and lower in elevation. The Wasatch Front first, then Timpanogos, then Mount Nebo. Then the canyon country areas; Boulder Plateau, Capital Reef, and then Zion. I'll be smack in the middle of teaching, so no big trips... Just every weekend and some local areas some afternoons. I'll probably try to steal away for a couple extra days in Zion. I know it's getting to be a cliche, but I can't help loving fall color there.

Having grown up in the Northeast and having spent years exiled to Southern California, the land without autumn, it's a favorite time of year.

I'm guessing it will start in about three or four weeks or so. The nights are already getting cold.

Doug: do me a favor and hit the Sedona area a few times. I'd love to see the trees from there again, even if it's not in person.

Temps are getting cooler, so we may get the cold snap we need to kick off 'the change'. I'm hoping to get over to the Ridgeway or Kebler area the weekend of the first. I have some areas around Carbondale staked out too but they may be later. If all works out, I may get to Lake Powell for some fall fun too.
