Deep, Dark & Dangerous

Real nice perspective on a difficult to photograph place, Howard. Looks a wee bit oversharpened here, though.

We just went here today! I like the b/w treatment and your comp. I was there at mid-day, didn't bring my tripod, and my wide angle lens is being repaired. It is definitely a WA type of place. I was lamenting the absence of my lens the entire time! Cool place and cool shot. Look forward to seeing more.

I like the conversion and elongated crop. But I agree with John, it does appear oversharpened at this size.

This definitely has a lot of potential, so just a little rework and it should be excellent.

Angela, a WA isn't always the best solution. In this case, the shot was made with my G11 at the FF equivalent of about 45mm.

I used the absolute minimum amount of sharpening on this shot. Here's the unsharpened conversion from the original.

Great conversion and interesting composition, Howard. I like it! The second version looks better re: sharpening.

I did use my WA lens a lot here but I also made a couple images at 105mm that I really like. There's some might cool patterns in those walls that make amazing abstracts with a longer lens.

Much better, Howard! I like the side lighting on many of the pinnacles and the inclusion of the ridge in the lower left.
If you used any kind of 'full contrast' or 'structure' adjustments with SEP, those adjustments seem to perform some sharpening of their own.

Love the BW! Really adds an ominous mood to the image.

Really nice job on the B&W Howard! I like the repost even better :toast:

Cool shot! I love the b&w conversion decision.
