I currently have the Canon 70-200 IS F2.8 MK2 and love it, except for the weight. I'm considering trading it in for the F4 or perhaps just buying the F4 and keeping both, just can't decide which direction to go with this and would love some input from those of you you have either or both of these.
Thanks
Carson

I had the old 2.8 and sold it for the non-IS 4.0 for the very reason you are considering it. Weight and size. The 4.0 is great. I did a sharpness test to compare. Extremely close, but the 4.0 was slightly sharper. Not enough to make a difference though. Unless you need the speed, I would make the change and pocket the cash.

I bought the F 4.0 as the 2.8 was too heavy and expensive and figured I didn't need the extra speed with the 5DM2. Have been very happy with it.

Thanks guys. I've decided to go ahead and get the 4.0 and keep the 2.8 at least for now, just really hesitant to give up the 2.8 because I do use it. I may trade in my 24-70 L f2.8 as I don't really use it very often.
My local store is expecting to have the f4 in this Friday so I'll see what they say about the 24-70 and go from there.
