Before the nonexistent Mitten Shadow event, I spent a motning in Valley of the Gods Just outside of Mexican Hat. I did not know what to expect when I awoke after driving in at night, as I had never been there.
#1 Morning Vista. There were some nice clouds left over from the evening storm, but they did not garner any color at sunrise.

I did spend two evenings in Monument Valley, hoping for a shadow and full moon, but monsoon rains had other ideas. Still, the leprechaun was present near Sentinel Mesa one afternoon. The other end of the rainbow was over the Mittens, but was not as vibrant.

Doug, looks like you were still able to come away with some good images.

I love Valley of the Gods. I camped there in 2004 and again in 2005. Beautiful place with very little traffic.
All of these images are quite nice but #2 is outstanding. I love how the composition carries my eye through the frame. Great work, Doug!

Thanks Jody and Bret. VoG seems to be quite interesting and offers a lot of possibilities as one can hike around, unlike Monument Valley.
Any idea about what this is? At first from a distance it looked like a ruin wall, but walking around and closer, it gave me the impression it was some kind of New Age altar.

Nice series, Doug. I have to agree that #2 possesses a fine composition, and for that reason is my favorite.
'Development' of all is nearly flawless. And yes, that last one appears to be some (well built) New Age whammy-jammy.
I really like what you have done here. #2 is my pick. Nice work.

Those are three fine images! All well composed and processed.

I really like #2. Great depth of field, sharpness, color, composition, light.... what's not to love! Sweet.

Really like the light and shadows in the first image. Nice looking clouds as well.

Another nice collection, Doug. I think the second one is my favorite here, but am enjoying them all. I have been really enjoying your work this summer!
