Here is a thread for fall color reports. Feel free to post images that give depth to the color report, but images for critique should not go here.
Let's hope it is a good fall season!!!

When driving to breakfast this morning I saw almost complete color change in our street Maple trees, It has not been hot here it hasn't be cold either ( Long Beach ) . Looking at the weather reports ( on Noaa) over the past week I zeroed in on North Lake and the low temps will break freezing this weekend. Which to my knowledge has not occurred yet. Perhaps this might start the sap down and trip the color change.

Check out the Parchers Resort link on Sandy Steinmens thread on this forum. It looks like the Bishop Creek drainage is about ready to pop...
Fall Foliage and information resources. Or Google Parchers Resort..and click on the Fall Color report. Very thorough and lot's of images. If you do check it out it appears like the color is just about here.

A friend sent me these photos from North Lake. The first is day before yesterday, before the storm. The second and third are yesterday, after the storm began.
I just got back from a 10 day trip to the Sierra. I started out down around Bishop, spent time around Lee Vining and then Truckee. This is about the worst year for fall color I have seen. It was mostly green with some brown tossed in. I saw very little full color. Most of the green leaves looked faded and I suspect they will go to a faded yellow and then brown.
Who knows, maybe the color will rally and just show up late?? It is definitely a strange year for color.

Thanks for update, Harley. I'm hoping that the Black Oaks on the valley floor
of Yosemite NP will be good in a few weeks.
I went up to Sonora Pass yesterday 10/19. The aspens, tobacco bush, and willow are peaking at elevations of 8,000 ft on both sides of the pass. Some of the leaves have spots, but the color is very vibrant. This weekend, or early next week would be optimum.
I did not go all the way down to Leavitt Meadows on the east side, but would expect the trees to be looking quite nice. The cottonwood on the west side are looking good, but will get better in the next few days.
There is still quite a bit of water flowing--more than I've seen in recent years. This is likely a holdover from the last winter's melt and the snow from early October.
The mountains are looking their best in my neighborhood, so...now's the time!
