Nine of us from PNWNP were able to make it to Elmer's in Delta Park yesterday. We enjoyed lunch together, and talked shop. In addition, we enjoyed an excellent presentation on composition by David Bostock. In addition to myself and David, Joseph Campisi, Jeremy Cram, Marylynne Diggs, Steve Kennedy, Graham Welland, Craig Strand, and Jack Graham were able to attend. It's amazing how much info you can glean from a group of knowledgeable photographers.
At the close of his presentation, David listed several references to consider, and I asked him to e-mail them to me so I wouldn't forget them. I'm posting them here in case others are interested:
•Perception & Imaging by Richard D. Zakia
•Designing a Photograph by Bill Smith
•Design Basics by David A. Lauer & Stephen Pentak
•The Art of Photographing Nature by Martha Hill and Art Wolfe
A huge thanks to all who made it out on a rainy day, especially to Steve and Joseph for coming all the way from the Seattle area. Catherine and I want to make these regular events every other month or so. Be sure and mark November 5 on your calendar for our next Coffee Roundup, this time in the Seattle area. We'll be back in the Portland area in January.

John, thanks for hosting and all the work you and Catherine do to make this forum so enjoyable. And thank you David for putting on the comp session. I was very happy to meet everyone attending and I'm looking forward to the November meeting in Seattle.
Happy to hear about our first Roundup and so glad everyone had a good time.
I have the Hill/Wolfe book, and it's a good one. I'll have to look into the other ones. Composition is always a relevant topic, no matter how long one has been shooting: new techniques/ideas, refreshers and reminders.
Hated to have missed it, but busy training a puppy for service.
Hope to see many of you in Seattle in Nov.!
