I’ve had a quite fun summer and thought I would share a few of my favorite photos from my recent travels around Colorado. I still have quite a few images to process, so I might share another batch if I catch up before fall gets started.
Comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated.
#1- Light on the Horizon - Gold King Basin outside of Telluride

#4 - Corn Lily Twins – West Elk Wilderness near Crested Butte, Colorado

#5 - Pawnee Buttes

#6 - Clear Lake Basin near Silverton, Colorado

#7 - Lake Odessa – Rocky Mountain National Park

#8 – Marigold Ponds – Rocky Mountain National Park. Seems that the Lake Helene/Two Rivers area was the place to be yesterday. This image was taken a bit earlier in the morning than the image Koveh posted earlier. I intended to keep this one dark. If you think it is too dark, please do let me know.

Oh man, those are SWEET! I'm a big fan of 1 and 6. Great work!

Immaculate processing and great comps!!!

These are all beautiful, Sarah. I think #2 and #7 are my favorites but they are all fantastic.

Wow, really great series of images, nothing to fault any in my mind.

Great images Sarah. I think #2 is my favorite. I suspect that as winter rolls in, we will all be hitting that processing queue pretty hard.

What an absolutely phenomenal collection of images, Sarah. All are beautifully composed and expertly processed. My favorites are #6 and #7. Not surprising given my affinity for b&w lately. Thanks for the inspiration!
It's impossible for me to choose a favorite here. I would have felt rewarded to see just one of them. Instead you bless us with 8 stunning images. Well done.
These are terrific. It feels like you've been hoarding up some gems, and then springing them on us all at once! 1, 8, and 4 resonate the most strongly with me, but the others are well worthy too. The clouds in #1 lead to a great reflection, and #8 should remind me that great images can come from grace and simplicity, rather than chasing the idea of "more".
I'm not sure, but I get the impression from reading some of your blog posts that you think of yourself as a beginner in some ways... While it's good to keep a beginner's mind, I think you can put that worry to rest here, eh?

OMG, Sarah, what a fantastic and diverse collection! On #4, bring a spray bottle next time.

Hi Everyone - thank you for the very kind comments - I really appreciate the feedback.
Mark - I guess I have been hoarding images from NPN. I have posted all but three of these in multiple places but need to remember to share on NPN and RMNP more frequently, I guess!

Awesome set, Sarah, a nice variety and some cool subjects! One suggestion--the foregrounds in 2&6 look like they could use a bit more contrast. Other than that, everything looks great!

I really like all of these but I have to give special props to 5 just because it is SO difficult to come away from Pawnee with great shots. How long were your exposures on 3, 6, and 7?

Looks like a great summer. What a collection.

Again, thank you very much for all of the comments!
Pam - I am traveling this week so I cannot answer your question completely without access to my Lightroom catalog. All of the photos you asked about are manual blends. #3 is three exposures, but I do not have the details handy. #7 was 30 seconds for the clouds (with a 10 stop ND filter) and I am not sure how long for the land. #6 was 1/10 of a sec for the sky and 0.4 sec for the land. All blended using a random collection of techniques in CS4.
Stan - I will take a look at the contrast on the two images you mention. Thank you for the critique.

Really fine work Sarah. No favorites, to hard to choose. Congrats!

Oh, my. What an amazingly beautiful series you have here, Sarah! If i could eke out just one image on a trip half as good as what you have here, I would be so pleased. This is a fine sample of the best of Colorado.
The Marigold Ponds image is most certainly not too dark, IMO. In fact, it looks perfect!
I wonder if some 'Image Polish' (via Unsharp Mask filter) on the Pawnee Butte only might make it 'pop' a wee bit more.
No more hoarding, lass! We deserve to revel in your visions.

That's quite a summer hit parade.
I won't even try to pick a favorite.

Incredible collection so far, Sarah. Looks like a productive summer! Congrats and well done.
I gotta say that Pawnee Butte shot is my favorite. It shows your great simplistic eye. Not that the other ones are bad but that one just screamed at me! Looks like you had a very productive summer!

What a great set Sarah. About the only suggestion would be to put a little pop into the bottom foreground greens and purples in #6, as the flowers just behind them seem to have more punch.
